Qualifications
-Master's Degree in School Counseling or related field.
-New Hampshire License as a School Counselor
-Must pass a background check.
Supervisor -Special Education Secondary Assistant Director
Performance Responsibilities
Student Support and Advocacy
-Provide individual and group counseling to students with special needs, addressing social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
-Advocate for students' rights and needs, ensuring they receive appropriate accommodations and services.
-Monitor students' academic progress and work with teachers to implement strategies for improvement.
-Work collaboratively with external agencies to provide appropriate support and resources.
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
-Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs.
-Participate in IEP meetings, providing input on students' progress and needs.
Collaboration and Consultation
-Work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
-Consult with external agencies and professionals to coordinate services and resources for students.
Crisis Intervention
-Provide crisis intervention and support to students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
-Develop and implement behavior intervention plans as needed.
-Exhibit effective crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
Parent and Community Engagement
-Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to discuss students' progress and address concerns.
-Facilitate workshops and informational sessions for parents on topics related to special education and student development.
Professional Responsibilities
-Engage in reflective practice.
-Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
-Document student progress with accurate and accessible systems for tracking student learning and other records; use these systems efficiently and effectively.
-Contribute to school community and culture by leading events, programs, or activities that further the culture of learning in the school and bring the values of the school to life through modeling and positive action.
-Regularly seek out and identify high-quality opportunities to grow and learn, identifying problems of practice or areas of inquiry that inform individual and collaborative learning opportunities.
-Exhibit high standards of ethical practice and wise decision making on behalf of students, families, and colleagues.
-Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
