About Job

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Early Childhood Intervention team.  The OT Provides initial evaluations and reassessments of child development and occupational therapy services to infants and toddlers 0-3 years old. Responsible for a caseload to provide occupational therapy.

Your Role in Action:

·         Assesses development for initial and annual eligibility.

·         Reassesses development and ongoing progress in order to meet child and family needs.

·         Develops initial Individual Family Service Plans [IFSP] with team members including the family.

·         Reviews IFSPs every 6 months and annually

·         Provides occupational therapy services based on the child’s IFSP goals.

·         Documents every contact and attempts to contact families electronically.

·         Submits electronic documentation according to agency policy.

·         Meets requirements to comply with ECI procedural safeguards and confidentiality.

·         Meets ECI and agency required training policies.

·         Meets requirements to renew occupational therapist license.

·         Provides COTA mentoring occupational therapy supervision.

·         This contributes to suicide care and prevention by embracing our values and applying a trauma-informed approach rooted in safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • Master's or Doctoral from a regionally accredited university program.

Experience:

  • Experience working with children birth to three (3) years of age, preferred.

Other Key Qualifications:

·         Requires licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Texas.

·         Valid Texas Driver’s license and safe driving record with proof of vehicle insurance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·         Assessment and intervention techniques.

·         Good evaluation skills.

·         Knowledge about young children under the age of three.

·         Knowledge of a wide range of disabilities and the effect of the disability on development.

·         Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
