WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Lead Licensed Clinical Social Worker provides in person clinical supervision and guidance to provisionally licensed and licensed mental health clinicians working toward licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC with/without Diagnostic Privilege), MHC-P, LMSW, and Social Work and Counseling interns meet the required clinical hours, competencies, and licensure standards established by New York State (NYS), while maintaining high-quality therapeutic practices and adhering to ethical and legal guidelines. The Lead Licensed Clinical Social Worker will also provide in-services and training on clinical topics and evidence-based practices to the clinical team, in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
A representative summary of tasks is provided below. The employee may be asked to perform other job-related tasks as necessary. The duties are to be carried out in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and operating principles of Jewish Family Services of WNY.
1. Supervision of Clinical Practice
- Provide regular individual and group supervision to MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC (without Diagnostic Privilege) and Social Work and Counseling Interns), review client cases, treatment plans, and therapeutic techniques, this includes MHC-P working in the OMH licensed clinic and other agency programs.
- Guide provisionally licensed counselors in the application of clinical theories and evidence-based interventions.
- Ensure adherence to NYS licensure requirements and ethical standards in clinical practice.
2. Assessing Competency Development
- Evaluate the clinical skills of MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege and Interns, offering constructive feedback and guidance to enhance therapeutic competencies.
- Foster professional growth through mentorship, encouraging the development of clinical expertise and professional identity.
3. Case Review and Documentation
- Review and monitor case notes, treatment plans, and client progress documentation for compliance with NYS regulations and organizational standards. Provide final approval and sign off on treatment plans.
- Ensure that MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege, and Interns maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in accordance with programmatic, confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
4. Guidance on Professional Development
- Support that MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege, and Interns in identifying continuing education opportunities, workshops, and other resources for professional growth.
- Encourage participation in professional networks, conferences, and peer support groups to build skills and knowledge.
- Provide in-services and training on clinical topics and evidence-based practices to the clinical team, in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services.
5. Monitoring Progress Toward Licensure
- Track and monitor the PLMHC’s progress in meeting clinical hours and licensure requirements for LCSW or LMHC certification.
- Guide that MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege, and Interns in preparing for licensure exams by providing study materials, exam strategies, and other resources.
6. Compliance with Regulatory Standards
- Ensure that all clinical practices, documentation, and procedures comply with NYS regulations and professional ethical standards.
- Review supervision records and ensure that MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege, and Interns are fulfilling all supervisory and documentation requirements as set by NYS.
7. Support in Crisis Interventions and High-Risk Cases
- Provide guidance and supervision in handling high-risk clients, including those in crisis or experiencing acute mental health distress.
- Model effective crisis management, safety planning, and de-escalation techniques.
8. Evaluation and Reporting
- Provide written evaluations and progress reports of the that MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege, and Interns’ performance as required by licensing authorities.
- Maintain accurate documentation supporting the MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege, and Interns progress toward obtaining full licensure.
9. Fostering a Supportive Work Environment
- Create a collaborative and open environment where that MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege, and Interns feel supported and empowered in their development.
- Encourage teamwork, professional growth, and open communication among staff.
10. Administrative and Logistical Support
- Assist with scheduling and organizing that MHC-P, LMSW, LMHC without Diagnostic Privilege, and Interns clinical hours to ensure they meet licensure requirements.
- Collaborate with the administrative staff to maintain necessary documentation related to licensure and clinical hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in social work
- Current NYS licensure as an LCSW with a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in an outpatient mental health setting, preferably in community mental health
- Minimum of 1-2years of experience in supervising provisionally licensed counselors or related roles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- In-depth knowledge of NYS licensure requirements for LCSWs and LMHCs.
- Strong clinical knowledge and experience in individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and evidence-based practices

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Will work in the office and in the community; able to travel outside the office to various sites to attend meetings and provide support services.
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle, possess a valid, clean driver’s license and be sufficiently self-insured with liability insurance in the amount of $100/$300k.
- This Position requires a 5 day, Monday-Friday schedule unless otherwise indicated by agency calendar. Duty locations will be split between in-office and home visits.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical activities and efforts required working in an office environment.
- Visual acuity is sufficient to maintain a system of files and reports containing computer-generated and handwritten documents.
- Auditory acuity sufficient to communicate with staff, clients, and others by phone and in person.
- Mobility is sufficient to conduct regular duties within a normal office environment and community.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Competitive salary range of $63,000 – $70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

- Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) of 4+ weeks.
- 401k retirement plan with agency contribution of 4%.
- 13+ observed holidays annually.
- Reduced full-time work week of 35 hours and early close on Fridays.
The above pay range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, background, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
