Citizenship and Science Academy of Rochester (CSAR), part of the Science Academies of New York (SANY) Charter Schools, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to support the academic, emotional, and social development of students in grades K–5.

At CSAR, we believe that students thrive when supported holistically. Our school social workers play a vital role in building strong relationships with students, families, and the community to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed in school and beyond.

What You’ll Do

As a School Social Worker, you will:

Provide developmentally appropriate individual and group counseling for students with emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.
  • Conduct age-appropriate observations and assessments to identify student and family needs and implement effective interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and outside agencies to support students' well-being and readiness to learn.
  • Respond to crises and provide ongoing support for students and families.
  • Promote a positive school climate by supporting social-emotional learning initiatives appropriate for early elementary students.
  • Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community resources to ensure holistic support.
  • Actively engage with families to strengthen the home-school connection and provide resources, education, and support.
  • Participate in student support teams and contribute to IEP and 504 plan development and implementation for students requiring services.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
  • New York State Certification as a School Social Worker (required)
  • Experience working in diverse or urban school environments preferred
  • NYSED fingerprint clearance required
