CREDIT ANALYST II POSITION SUMMARY

The Credit Analyst II develops and analyzes all types of credit information. This position independently prepares complete loan packages for mid to large size loans, completes all documents (including projections), prepares analyses, and makes the appropriate recommendations. The Credit Analyst II also assists with the preparation of larger and more complex loan packages along with assisting Loan Officers or Senior Credit Analysts as requested.

CREDIT ANALYST II ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Assist loan officers in the approval of credit and ensure proper risk rating per bank policy
  2. Make recommendations as to the inherent risks of extending credit to each customer
  3. Evaluation of risks associated with loan applications
  4. Risk must be understood and communicated to ensure credit exposure is kept to a minimum and in line with the organization's limit on risk bearing
  5. Analyze financial information, such as statements, management accounts and cash flow statements
  6. Develop models of credit information to predict patterns and trends
  7. Maintain credit financials for proper documentation and to ensure closed files are pulled, stored, and/or destroyed per policy
  8. Prepares written analyses which includes credit investigation of borrower and guarantors; economic and market conditions, in-depth historical financial analysis including communicating with borrower's accountant when necessary to understand accounting practices; in-depth projection financial analysis including “what if scenarios”; in-depth analysis of secondary sources of repayment; in-depth analysis of guarantor's financial position
  9. Collects and maintains industry data
  10. Attends loan committees as appropriate to be available to answer questions regarding credit analysis and often presents the loan request to the committee
  11. Participates in customer meetings as requested by loan officers
  12. Maintains loan files for proper documentation
Requirements:

CREDIT ANALYST II ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Business Administration or related field preferred or an equivalent of combined education and relevant work experience

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of credit analyst and/or lending experience.
  • Minimum one year underwriting experience.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Strong background, or an ability to learn, principles in risk management
  • Strong math skills; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Exceptional analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply commonly understood knowledge to carry out instructions and instruct others, understand procedures and write reports and correspondence
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to function well in a fast-paced environment
