Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of students. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment that promotes positive mental health and well-being among students. The School Counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and community resources to address the diverse needs of our student population.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students facing personal, social, or academic challenges.
  • Educate students on topics related to mental health, emotional well-being, and conflict resolution.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote behavioral health and cultural diversity counseling.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to create supportive learning environments for all students.
  • Assist in identifying students who may require additional support/community resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and child protective services when necessary.
  • Participate in school meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in childhood development and mental health counseling.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health issues, childhood development principles, and informed trauma care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including students from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of special education processes and resources available for students with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with community resources related to mental health support and child protective services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  • Commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive school environment for all students.
