About Job

Job Summary:

The Intake Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the patient intake process, ensuring accurate and efficient collection of patient information, and providing excellent customer service. This role serves as the initial point of contact for patients, gathering necessary data to support clinical operations and ensuring a smooth patient experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Greets and registers patients, verifying demographic and insurance information.

Collects and accurately enters patient medical history, current medications, and reason for visit into the electronic health record (EHR).

Verifies patient insurance coverage and obtains necessary authorizations or referrals.

Schedules patient appointments and coordinates referrals to other departments or specialists as needed.

Provides patients with necessary forms, instructions, and information regarding office policies and procedures.

Ensures patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.

Answers patient inquiries and directs calls to appropriate personnel.

Maintains accurate and organized patient records.

Processes patient payments and performs other clerical duties as assigned.

Utilizes ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding procedures accurately.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma from an accredited school or equivalent. Medical Assistant Associates degree/diploma or Medical Assistant Certificate or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) required.

Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a managed care setting.

Typing certificate for 30 wpm.

Data entry and computer experience of at least two years.

Proficient in ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding procedures.

Experience with medical terminology.

Knowledge of: Medicaid benefits, Microsoft Office products.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding.

Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.

Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
