Schedule: 40 hours/week; 2nd shift (2 pm-10 pm) with weekends

Earn $18.76/hour with a bachelor's degree OR $16.34/hour with high school diploma/GED. Plus shift differentials

Position Details

The psychiatric technician will engage with mental health consumers at our extended acute care (EAC) facility, supporting appropriate life skills and developing abilities to live as independently as possible. They will implement treatment plans and participate in the treatment planning process for the residents in the EAC.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely and respectfully manage agitated consumers with appropriate use of de-escalation techniques.
  • Complete clear and accurate documentation.
  • Provide care and treatment in a manner that considers the rights, safety, comfort and overall therapeutic environment for consumers.
  • Report all consumer crisis and or unusual incidents immediately to the Program Director/ Supervisor.
  • Support individuals in the performance of household activities (cleaning, organizing, laundry, etc).
  • Teach and promote various activities of daily living (money management, hygiene, time management, keeping a schedule, social and leisure activities, etc).
  • Assist in developing and implementing activities to increase skills in independent and community living, socialization/leisure time and to build on strengths to promote positive growth for the consumer.

Requirements:
Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
  • Psychiatric Technician I - High School Diploma/GED with completion of 12 semester hours of college training in a mental health related field OR 6 months of work experience in mental health
  • Psychiatric Technician II - Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human services, or a related field
  • Ability to physically intervene in the provision of care to individuals is required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • An active and unrestricted driver's license is required
  • Experience with adults in residential and/or community settings is preferred
