How you make a difference:

Forensic Psychologist – Bridging Mental Health and the Justice System

Step into a pivotal role where psychology meets the law. As a Forensic Psychologist, you will conduct high-stakes, court-ordered evaluations that shape judicial outcomes and impact lives. Your expertise will guide assessments related to Competence to Stand Trial (CST), Criminal Responsibility (CR), aid-in-sentencing, and civil commitment due to mental illness.

With a sharp clinical eye and deep understanding of legal standards, you’ll evaluate individuals with complex mental health needs—helping the justice system make informed, ethical decisions while supporting the rights and care of those served.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts Forensic Evaluations
    Performs court-ordered evaluations, including commitment and recommitment, Competence to Stand Trial (CST), Criminal Responsibility (CR), aid-in-sentencing, and civil commitment evaluations.
  • Provides Expert Testimony
    Offers expert testimony to the court as needed.
  • Coordinates with Treatment Teams and Courts
    Conducts examinations related to CST and CR and collaborates with treatment teams and the judicial system.
  • Supervises and Trains
    Supervises and trains psychology students and provides education to the clinical team as necessary.
  • Ensures Accurate and Timely Documentation
    Completes detailed, professional, and timely evaluations in compliance with facility policies and standards.


Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
  • Required: Ph.D. or Psy. D. in psychology from an accredited university.
Experience:
  • Preferred: Three (3) years of experience working in a hospital or secure setting.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Required: Current license as a psychologist in state of practice and any other certifications required by the state to perform forensic evaluations.
