About Job

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a PASRR Evaluator to join our team. Under the general supervision of the Program Director: ID eligibility Center, the PASRR Evaluator is responsible for performing PASRR evaluation of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in nursing facilities, hospitals, and other community locations. Completes PASRR assessments in required electronic systems and performs activities in electronic systems to enable billing. May assist individuals in nursing facilities and in the community seeking ID services and support to obtain needed documentation for eligibility determination assessments, explain services and supports, complete a service coordination assessment, monitor timelines of PASRR cases, and prepare consumer records for referral to appropriate departments following determination of eligibility. The PASRR Evaluator may also be asked to assist with training new PASRR staff as needed. The evaluator serves as a liaison between The Harris Center ID Elig. & referring entities for questions/concerns regarding PASRR. Travel and flexible work hours are required.

Your role in action:

  • Assists with training PASRR Eligibility Coordinators.
  • May provide training refreshers to referring entities seeking guidance regarding PASRR.
  • Monitors TMHP and SFAX for PASRR notifications
  • Obtains HIPAA consents
  • Completes and submits PASRR evaluations, which includes face-to-face meetings with
    persons in nursing facilities, hospitals, homes, etc.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings (IDT)
  • Documents services provided in The Harris Center data systems
  • Reviews medical and mental health records as well as HHSC databases for diagnostic
    information
  • Daily traveling to and from facilities and homes throughout Harris County.
  • Contributes to suicide care and prevention by embracing our values and applying a trauma-informed approach rooted in safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.

What qualifications will you need:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent. Bachelors degree required, preferably in the social sciences 

Experience:

  • Must have 1 year of experience working directly with persons with developmental disabilities. 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication
  • Works with consumers, family members, visitors and fellow employees in a manner that demonstrates
    knowledge of cultural diversities.
  • Proficient in common computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
