Driftway Animal Hospital is a full service, privately owned, small animal hospital that provides quality care to the pets of Scituate and surrounding towns. We offer traditional medicine, vaccines, and preventatives as well as holistic options. We have digital radiology, perform soft tissue surgeries and dental procedures. Our team is dedicated and hard working. The common goal is to improve the lives our patients and educate our clients to the best of our abilities. We are looking for a friendly, energetic and detail oriented Veterinary Technician to join our animal care team. Primary goals would be to assist veterinarians with routine exams and medical treatments. Candidates should have general knowledge of vaccine protocols, be able to perform phlebotomy and place I.V catheters, operate various in-house laboratory equipment and safely use digital radiology system. Excellent communication and computer skills are required. Our team maintains a strong bond because we believe in helping one another. Answering phones, scheduling appointments and processing payments are expected at times.

Requirements:

  • Provides animal care by determining animal requirements.
  • Perform safe, gentle handling and restraint.
  • Feeds and cares for animals.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains records.
  • Determines animal requirements by conducting assessments and obtaining detailed intakes.
  • Completes laboratory requisitions, tests, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Takes vital signs and collects samples.
  • Administer medications and vaccines.
  • Has knowledge of and can safely perform radiographs.
  • Place I.V. catheters.
  • Assist with euthanasia.
  • Supports animal examinations by assembling required supplies and instruments.
  • Explains animal status to owners.
  • Perform anal gland expressions and nail trims.
  • Obtains and verifies medications.
  • Cleans animal cages and equipment.
  • Effectively communicate and educate clients.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed.
