General Job Description

Dogwood Industries is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Forklift Operator for our Factory in Sedro-Woolley. Dogwood's Forklift Operator's core mission is to facilitate the safe and efficient receipt and storage of materials used in the manufacturing processes including large structural steel members and finished products ranging from 1,000 lbs to 30,000 lbs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Unload materials from incoming trucks
  • Move and unload materials throughout the factory
  • General shipping and receiving duties, storage, and yard cleanliness
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience as a forklift operator, ideally in an industrial setting moving heavy materials
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Knowledge of various material handling equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 70 pounds. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment. The work environment characteristics here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The Forklift Operator spends a significant portion of their time outside and must be comfortable working in inclement weather.


Compensation

  • $22.00 - $38.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
  • There is a shift differential for Weekend Shift
