The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is involved in the implementation of interventions designed by the behavior analyst to be used with individuals to produce socially significant outcomes. This position is responsible for performing professional work that is substantially varied in nature under the general direction from the analyst. The RBT applies professional training and experience to implement appropriate interventions for clients and to carry out other appropriate assignments.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct direct observations of clients in their living, educational, and community environments
  • Review client’s behavior programs and/or assessment
  • Collect baseline and intervention data to evaluate outcomes
  • Collect data on targets for behavior reduction and skill acquisition
  • Graph data in the portal and seek assistance from analyst when necessary
  • Implement behavior programs
  • Run all programs with each client
  • Prepare daily session notes within 24 hours of service delivery
  • Accurately track hours of service and stay within the budgeted time frame
  • Complete authorized therapy hours for each client and do so appropriately
  • Maintain access to computer/ e-mail/ tablet
  • Return phone calls within 4 hours and e-mails within 24 hours
  • Notify Human Resources of requests to take paid time off; ensure that the time requested off is posted in the agency calendar once approved by the company; obtain coverage options
  • Follow the BACB regulation terms of supervision for RBT
  • Report for face-to-face group supervision meetings at least once per month and prepare individual supervision form bi-weekly
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all facets of job (e.g., contacts analyst or caregiver in advance of cancellation or tardiness, maintains positive attitude, follows dress and conduct guidelines)

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure requirements for documentation of services are implemented
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiative corrective actions
  • Attend training, meetings, and conferences required by the company
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and requirements necessary to perform the functions of this position
  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA laws
  • Report any incidents of Client Rights, Zero Tolerance, harassment or discrimination, Health/ Safety/ Welfare violations
  • Prepare incident reports for any abuse/ neglect situations observed or reported to you and inform analyst of owner of the company immediately

Skills and Qualifications

  • Outstanding social skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, intuitive analytical abilities, training or coursework in developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of state, HIPAA, and Medicaid regulations
  • Ability to handle multiple activities at the same time
  • Maintain access to computer and check e-mail regularly
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, families, caregivers, and support coordinators
  • Ability to show flexibility and motivation, and to display emotionality to fit a variety of sensitive situations
  • Ability to display sound judgment and reasoning in decision-making and problem-solving skills in using ABA techniques
