Description:

Muir Wood is a leading provider of residential behavioral health treatment for adolescents ages 12–17. We operate 17 Joint Commission-accredited programs across California, including locations in Sonoma County, Clovis, and Riverside. Our programs specialize in treating mental health and substance use disorders, offering a safe, structured, and compassionate environment that supports long-term healing for teens and their families. Each campus integrates individualized therapy, family systems work, and accredited education, all grounded in clinical excellence and a deep commitment to whole-family recovery.

The Recovery Counselor is responsible for providing counseling and therapeutic clinical services to patients, providing counseling and linkage assistance within a residential environment, including responsibilities maintaining the program milieu. Additionally, responsible for the overall operation of the facility in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state and local standards, including guidelines and regulations governing our facility to assure that our facility is maintained in a safe manner. This is a full-time, onsite position, Monday - Friday, from 9am - 6pm with flexibility to work weekends.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with residents/clients individually a minimum of once per week.
  • Facilitate group sessions as determined by the Clinical Director.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Counselor's role in client programming including the assignment and evaluation of Level Advancement assignments.
  • As part of a treatment team, collaborate on approvals of all outings and activities for residential clients.
  • Participate in family programming sessions as requested and required by the Clinical Director.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of clinical documentation (progress and group notes).
  • Attend weekly treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and clinical supervision if needed, and instructed by the Clinical Director.
  • Develop off campus meeting schedule (if deemed appropriate) for residents to attend AA, Al-Anon, and NA meetings with staff accompaniment.
  • Facilitate residents’ daily activities in residential settings including assistance with daily activities, chores supervision, etc.
  • Observe and monitor residents’ behavior and intervene based on schedule, individual treatment plans and house needs.
  • Orientation of all new residents to policies of Muir Wood.
  • Attends meetings, training and conferences needed.
  • Professionally, ethically, and compassionately relates to clients and peers at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Qualifications:

  • Availability to work weekends
  • Experience working with dually diagnosed individuals preferred
  • TB required and health screen, along with CPR and first aid

Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Level (CADC), Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor (CATC), or Substance Use Disorder Certified Counselor (SUDCC); required to have 1 out of 3 certificates
  • AA Degree or Bachelor Degree in Psychology or Social Work preferred

Compensation:

$28.00 - $32.00 per hour based on education and experience
