Your primary duties will include performing climbing and grounds person duties, tree trimming, chipping, stump grinding, and any other duties assigned by the crew leader. Compensation:$21 - $27 hourly
Responsibilities:- Climb trees using industry-approved techniques and systems to perform pruning, removals, and aerial operations.
- Follow safe climbing, rigging, and cutting practices in accordance with ANSI Z133 and A300 standards.
- Operate chainsaws and hand tools safely both on the ground and in the canopy.
- Assist with jobsite setup, debris removal, equipment inspections, and work zone safety.
- Communicate effectively with the ground crew and other climbers using verbal and non-verbal signals.
- Maintain personal climbing gear and assist with the care of company equipment.
- Uphold a clean, organized, and hazard-free worksite.
- Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, conduct, and client interactions.
Qualification & Placement Levels
After onboarding and field evaluation, climbers will be qualified into one of the following levels:
- Climber 1 – Beginner-level climber with basic aerial and ground skills, working under close supervision.
- Climber 2 – Intermediate-level climber proficient in aerial cutting, basic rigging, and working independently in the canopy.
- Climber 3 – Advanced production climber capable of leading complex removals, advanced rigging operations, and mentoring others.
Advancement between levels is based on demonstrated performance, skill assessments, and safety compliance.
Minimum Requirements
- Prior experience in tree climbing or successful completion of a recognized climbing training program.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous work outdoors in all weather conditions, including climbing, lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to follow safety procedures and wear assigned PPE at all times.
- Ability to travel to job sites and work scheduled hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with MRS and/or SRS climbing systems
- Chainsaw operation skills in tree care environments
- Knowledge of tree species, defects, and pruning techniques
- Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This is a physically demanding, outdoor position that involves exposure to heights, uneven terrain, loud equipment, and variable weather conditions. Tree climbers must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, ascending trees over 60 feet tall, and working in harnesses for extended periods.
