Clinical Social Worker - Full-time
Huron Gastro, P.C. is an adult medical gastroenterology practice specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders that affect the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (colon), rectum, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. Our practice includes 25 physicians who are board-certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, 10 Advance Practice Providers, and an outstanding staff of clinical and administrative personnel.

The Contingent Medical Social Worker will coordinate and provide social services for patients of Huron Gastro. This individual will assess and treat the patient’s psych-social concerns as they relate to their GI diagnoses and care. This person will also provide intervention, resource information and clinical treatment relevant to their ongoing care.
Education & Licensure
- Master’s Degree required
- Licensed in Michigan
Certifications
- MSW
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
- Experience understanding and navigating through an EPM/EHR System
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct psychosocial assessments of patients
- Provide short-term counseling and referrals for ongoing mental health care
- Assist with case management, such as connecting patients to community resources
- Support care teams in developing treatment plans
- Address chronic illness, grief, adjustment issues, or behavioral health concerns
- Ability to provide individual, family and group counseling
- Crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment skills
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
- Coordination of care with physicians and care teams
- Empathy, communication, and organizational skills
