Under the direction of the summer director, a summer counselor will provide leadership and implementation of the summer program. This includes instruction of children in groups of up to 14 children. Provide a safe and fun environment for your group. Plan and execute activities.
Program Dates Session 1- June 9th-June 24th (No Program June 18th or 19th)
Session 2 July 7th- July 25th
Hours of Operation 1200pm-530pm

- Attend all orientation sessions prior to summer program.
- Understand and attend to the needs of children.
- Guide, direct and Participate with your group in activities.
- Develop group cohesiveness.
- Assist in the social, mental, and emotional development of the children using values clarification techniques.
- Maintain control of the children in your care at all times.
- Responsible for the health and safety of the children under your supervision.
- Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, facilities, and the natural environment.
- Support and Assist other summer personnel in all areas of program operation and development.
- Manage personal time in accordance with summer program policies.
- Maintain standards of conduct.
- All other duties as assigned by your supervisor
- At least 18 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on state law and YMCA policies.)
- High school graduate or equivalent
- One year or more of college preferred.
- Previous experience working with children preferably in a summer program setting
- Experience preferred in recreational group activities
