Minimum Salary: $60,000

Provide or supervise personal care and medical care as stated in the IEP (Individualized Education Plan).
Primary Purpose:

Behavior Interventionist with knowledge and skills necessary to assist administrators, teachers and students with positive behavior supports. The Behavior Interventionist helps coordinate Functional Assessments of Behavior and Behavior Intervention Plan that address students' inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to help the students become more academically successful. Behavior Interventionist also provides classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies.
Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

Valid Special Education Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work with students with emotional disturbance and related behavior concerns

Ability to utilize deescalation techniques and physical restraints aligned with district response program

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to work with children with disabilities

Ability to follow and implement an IEP, as written

Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

At least one year student teaching or approved internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Work with campus administration to design and provide professional development.
  2. Work with teachers and campus administration to analyze student discipline data and other campus data as designated, diagnose needs and identify research-based strategies to improve student behavior.
  3. Model discipline strategies for teachers when needed.
  4. Collaborate with teachers, curriculum department and campus administration to develop aligned social lessons and behavior strategies.
  5. Manage and distribute discipline management resources/tools to teachers and provide training on the use of those resources.
  6. Assist with the campus strategic plan and formulation of the CIP.
  7. Attend campus and district meetings/training as assigned.
  8. Serve as a member of the campus leadership team.
  9. Serve as case manager of student's with specialized instruction for behavior, i.e, Social Skills, Functional or behavior goals without academic specific services/goals.
  10. Complete Xlogs data entry for SHARS medicaid reimbursement.
  11. Facilitate campus and district PLCs to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment.
  12. Participate in RTI meetings and documentation
  13. Assist campus administration with building special education referrals related to behavior.
  14. Provide direct instruction to students in a small group or individual setting.
  15. Co-plans or co-teaches social lessons with grade level teachers.
  16. Observes and gives feedback to teachers.
  17. Mentor teachers who are new to the profession and assist teachers who are new to the school in behavior strategies.
  18. Assist teachers with writing behavior support.
  19. Write and implement behavior improvement plans and complete functional behavior assessments.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent driving, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Exposure to biological hazards. May be required to assist students with physical and/or emotional disabilities including regular heavy lifting of students; Assist in the control of behavior through physical restraints.
