About Job

United Academy of Music & Arts is seeking a compassionate and engaging Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) to provide in-home music therapy services to children and adults, including those with special needs. This is an employee position offering flexible part-time hours with opportunities for growth. The ideal candidate is passionate about using music as a therapeutic tool, has experience working with individuals of diverse abilities, and is committed to fostering creativity, inclusivity, and meaningful progress through music.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized, evidence-based music therapy sessions tailored to each person's unique needs and therapeutic goals in their homes.
  • Utilize various music therapy interventions, including singing, rhythm exercises, movement, and instrumental play, to support cognitive, emotional, social, and motor development.
  • Adapt therapeutic techniques to accommodate individuals with special needs, demonstrating compassion, flexibility, and creativity.
  • Assess, document, and communicate each child’s progress with parents or guardians and collaborate on therapeutic goals.
  • Submit monthly progress reports summarizing each patient's development and therapy outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with participants and their families to ensure a supportive and collaborative therapy environment.

Requirements:

  • Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) required.
  • Proficiency in several instruments which may include voice, piano, guitar, and percussion, with a solid foundation in music theory.
  • Experience providing music therapy to children and adults, including those with special needs.
  • Knowledge of various developmental and neurological conditions, with the ability to tailor interventions accordingly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with participants and families.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to clients’ homes.
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends.
