Responsibilities

The Academic Success Coach functions as a valuable resource for students, offering assistance with various academic skill-related challenges such as time management, effective study techniques, note-taking strategies, and more. Through one-on-one meetings, coaches collaborate with students to create action plans and steps conducive to academic achievement. The areas of support include but are not limited to: Study Strategies, Time Management, Note-Taking Strategies, Test Taking Tips, Goal Setting, Motivation, Calendar Scheduling, and Efficient Reading and Listening Tips.

Additionally, Academic Success Coaches collaborate with Academic Advisors, Tutorial Labs, Faculty, and other campus departments to ensure undergraduate students receive comprehensive support throughout their academic journey; Monitors student progress through check-ins, scheduled meetings, or proactive outreach; Conducting academic coaching sessions to help students assess performance and develop educational success plans; Assists students in overcoming obstacles and developing strong time management and organizational skills; Identifies and implements learning strategies and study skills specific to course materials; Develops small group workshops and supplemental materials for student learning; Teaches a section of the Student Life Skills (or equivalent) course; Refers students to appropriate academic support resources; Conducts dynamic workshops on various academic skills topics; Manages social media accounts to provide weekly study tips and academic success suggestions; Supervises undergraduate peer assistants; and serves as Support Professional staff for faculty teaching SLS courses.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; and experience with coaching, instructional, and mentoring techniques.

Recommended Competencies

Understanding of group and collaborative activity organization;

Familiarity with traditional and online course practices;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to synthesize information from various disciplines;

Strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities;

Experience working with multicultural groups; and

Proficiency in managing social media presence responsibly.

Pay Plan

This is a Faculty position.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.
