  • Treatment Planning: Design, implement, and evaluate tailored art therapy treatment plans aligned with client goals and overall care strategies.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in electronic health records (EHR), including session notes, progress updates, and treatment summaries.
  • Collaborative Care: Partner with fellow clinicians and therapists to ensure integrated and holistic care through interdisciplinary collaboration and regular case reviews.
  • Family Engagement: Provide family education and consultation to support therapeutic progress and reinforce art therapy practices in the home environment.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: Guide and supervise interns, students, or assistants pursuing art therapy training, contributing to the development of future professionals.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research, techniques, and ethical standards in art therapy through ongoing education and training.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Art Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered Art Therapist (ATR) or Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical art therapy experience, ideally with children and families in community or outpatient settings.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in a variety of artistic mediums (e.g., painting, drawing, sculpture) for therapeutic application.
  • Skilled in developing and adapting individualized art therapy treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques for emotional and psychological healing through creative expression.
  • Comfortable using electronic health record (EHR) systems for clinical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, families, and clinical teams.

Personal Attributes

  • Warm, empathetic, and attuned to the emotional needs of diverse client populations.
  • Innovative and resourceful in using art for therapeutic engagement and healing.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to also work independently.
