SUMMARY:
The Peer Support Worker is responsible for providing direct services to Santa Fe Recovery Center clients in the Men’s Programs. Under the direction of the Clinical Program Manager for the Men’s Program, provides a wide range of support including case management, information, and referrals, personal advocacy, facilitating support groups, conducting wellness activities, and forms of emotional support. Works collaboratively with SFRC staff, partnering organizations, and local and state service providers and networks. Requires ability to engage with clients in daily activities and provide recovery support for individuals receiving treatment in the Men’s Program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Work with the Clinical Manager (CM) and other clinical staff to provide Peer Support and services to clients who are in the SFRC Extended and Recovery House Program.
· Work with the CM and Med Techs to develop and promote wellness activities and programs that support long-term recovery for the Extended and Recovery House Program.
· Participate in a Peer Support Network and increase collaborative relationships with local and state victim service provider networks.
· Consult with other disciplines and victim service-related professional and paraprofessional staff to support the specific needs of clients;
· Responsible for conducting a minimum of two peer support groups each week.
· Performs duties in accordance with SFRC policies and procedures.
· Maintains professionalism with clients at all times and must never have personal relationships with any clients.
· Transports clients to appointments when appropriate.
· Maintains confidentiality in accordance with State and Federal law, the SFRC code of ethics, and SFRC policies and procedures. Understands and maintains HIPAA and 42CFR Part 2 confidentiality standards relative to SFRC.
· Performs and/or coordinates other special assignments and tasks, as required, by Supervisor.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
· Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency or crisis situations.
· Computer experience, knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn Access, Word, and electronic medical records (EMR-Bear).
· Ability to solve unexpected problems as they arise while considering liability, precedence, programmatic implications, and other possible future impacts on the program, services, or organization.
· Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum requirement of High School Diploma or GED.
2. CCSS Certification; if the candidate is not certified, he/she will pursue certification.
3. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
4. Ability to exercise tact, patience, and discretion when dealing with residents, families, staff, and the public.
5. Ability to relate with understanding and kindness to residents and their families.
6. Ability to keep observations, conversations, and information confidential.
7. Must be computer literate in order to effectively maintain compliance with licensing and certification standards and requirements for use of computerized client records & data systems.
8. Must have and maintain a current, valid NM Driver’s License if responsible for transporting clients or running errands for the Center. Must also have and maintain a clean driving record, as well as auto insurance.
9. In the case of a recovering person, he/she must have successfully maintained an 18-month (2) two-year period of uninterrupted abstinence from alcohol and/or drugs.
10. Maintain CPR and First Aid certification card on file.
11. Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural preferred. (English/Spanish).
