Position Purpose:
The recreation therapist will be actively involved in assessing and reviewing individual patient histories in order to develop and implement appropriate RT/ET related components of a comprehensive treatment plan. Other activities may include developing, implementing and evaluating therapeutic recreation/ expressive therapy interventions for children and adolescent psychiatric patients, maintaining clinical competencies and contributing to the growth and quality of the recreation/ expressive therapy services.
Basic Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in therapeutic recreation or recreation with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation. Must be certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (to include passing the NCRTC national certification exam) or be currently eligible to sit for the national certification exam and certification must be obtained within one year of hire. Must be licensed to practice as a therapeutic recreation specialist by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. Previous experience in a psychiatric setting desirable.
Must be 21 years of age and be able to pass a background check as well as a drug screen.
