Job Purpose
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. Provide strategic leadership, optimize processes and procedures, ensure operational efficiency, and drive the achievement of business goals. Involves managing teams, implementing operational strategies, and collaborating with other departments to enhance overall organizational performance.
Tasks
- Provide strategic operational leadership and contribute to the development of the organization's overall strategic goals and objectives, including organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs.
- Administer programs for selection of sites, construction of buildings, or provision of equipment or supplies.
- Analyze operations to evaluate performance of Adams Sanitation in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.
- Appoint department heads or managers and assign or delegate responsibilities to them.
- Conduct direct investigations to resolve complaints or violations of laws.
- Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning.
- Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a supportive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.
- Ensure effective professional development, performance management and retention of employees is maintained.
- Adhere to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and acting when necessary.
- Analyze operations and identify areas of process enhancement.
- Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term company objectives.
- Directly oversee operations, and partner with owners and executive team to achieve budget and growth targets over the near and long term.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other external partners to ensure the availability of resources and promote collaborative partnerships.
- Implement and maintain quality control standards to ensure products or services meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies and contingency plans to mitigate operational risks and ensure business continuity.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements relevant to the organization's operations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the operations team and across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to operations, safety, and environmental practices.
- Aggressively manage capital investment and expenses to ensure the company achieves targets relative to growth and profitability.
- Monitor performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed.
- Prepare and present regular operational reports to owners and executive team, highlighting key performance metrics and areas for improvement.
- Lead and mentor the Fleet Manager, Operations Managers, and Light Truck Supervisor as direct reports – holding informative communication meetings, conducting performance reviews, approving Paid Time Off (PTO), oversight and advising role responsibilities, and handling discipline and rewards for these roles.
- Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Other administrative tasks as directed by executive team.
Requirements
- Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
- Understanding of advanced business planning and industry regulatory issues
- Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
- Ability to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues
- Ability to work well in a team and create employee buy-in on new initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Five years’ experience in operations management
- Master’s degree in business preferred, but not required
