Job Summary:
The Adult Division in the Department of Psychiatry (DOP) has an opening for a Full time (1.) FTE) open rank (Assistant Professor through Professor) - Psychiatrist or APP (Instructor/Senior Instructor)
The Medical Director (MD) for the AMC Outpatient Psychiatric clinic is responsible for the program's overall conduct, clinically and fiscally. The ambulatory psychiatry clinic medical director will provide administrative and clinical oversight for a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, therapists, and trainees as well as provide direct patient care in the Department of Psychiatry CU Medicine Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic and associated intensive outpatient program (IOP). This position is responsible for collaborating with the Department of Psychiatry, CU Medicine and University of Colorado leadership and staff, and UCHealth Anschutz (UCHA) leadership in supervising the aforementioned team, creating and maintaining faculty and trainee schedules, developing protocols and workflows, arranging trainings, building relationships with other departments, meeting required outcomes, quality metrics, and productivity expectations and other administrative duties. The direct patient care position involves in-person work supervising trainee patients presenting to the outpatient psychiatry clinic and/or intensive outpatient program and may involve supervision of psychiatry, nurse practitioner, psychology and social work trainees. Opportunities to work in other service lines such as neuromodulation may be available. Please note, this is an open rank position and could be categorized as Clinical Instructor, Clinical Senior Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for a 1.0 FTE has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $120,000 to $136,000

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at
Assistant Professor: $220,000 to $250,000
Associate Professor: $250,000 to $275,000
Professor: $280,000 to $310,000

Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement the vision and strategic goals of the ambulatory and intensive outpatient service in collaboration with key Department of Psychiatry stakeholders
- Ensure adequate teaching opportunities for trainees rotating through the outpatient clinic and associated IOP
- Along with Department administration, lead recruitment for new faculty members of the outpatient psychiatry clinic and associated IOP services
- Work with department leadership and administration to set clear productivity metrics and role expectations for each member of the outpatient clinic and IOP.
- Ensure the productivity and quality of the team’s clinical service, education and scholarly products and direct collection of program information and prepare reports to evaluate and monitor performance of outpatient clinic and associated IOP
- Assure that all ambulatory and IOP faculty and staff receive appropriate clinical supervision, professional development, in-service training, credentialing, privileging, and performance reviews.
- Attend and/or lead clinic, UCHA, CU Medicine and Dept of Psychiatry meetings as necessary
- Demonstrate a collaborative, collegial, and productive relationship with the Department of Psychiatry Vice Chair for Clinical Services and the CU Psychiatry Community Practices Chief of Service team
- Manage any personnel HR issues with appropriate guidance from Department and HR leadership
- In collaboration with practice manager and department leadership, manage patient concerns and issues
- Participate in relevant patient safety and quality improvement initiatives through the Department of Psychiatry
- Maintain personal scholarly productivity and encourage/support scholarly work of other faculty and trainees (not mandatory depending on promotion track)
- Meet standards and requirements for promotion in academic rank in a timely manner (not mandatory depending on promotion track)
- Maintain professional board certification in General Psychiatry
- Represent the University of Colorado School of Medicine, the Department of Psychiatry and UCHA/UCHealth with the utmost integrity and professionalism.
