COUNTY AGENCY SOCIAL WORKER - LICENSOR (WATONWAN)
SALARY MIN $32.14 – MAX $43.36 / HR

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Children’s Social Services Supervisor, and within state and local rules, regulations, and policies, this position will recruit, develop, monitor, license, and relicense, all family daycare providers, and adult and child foster care homes. This position will also perform case management for all adoptions that are involved in the child protection system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, adoption services, family systems and casework service.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of interviewing and recording in social work and the ability to apply them.
  • Knowledge of adoption and child protection laws and policies.
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency rules along with current and proposed changes in laws / rules.
  • Knowledge of individual and group behavior.
  • Knowledge of social casework objectives, principles, and methods.
  • Knowledge of social-economic factors, which promote stable family life and understanding of the elements, which affect family security.
  • Knowledge of the principles of community organization.
  • Knowledge of physical and mental illnesses.
  • Knowledge of social welfare research methods.
  • Knowledge of family systems and dynamics.
  • Ability to effectively apply casework knowledge and skills.
  • Working ability to work constructively within an agency in the community setting and in effectively utilizing appropriate resources and services.
  • Ability to work constructively in the development and coordination of community resources to meet special needs.
  • Ability to manage time productively.
  • Ability to prioritize caseloads.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with attorneys, co-workers, clients, court personnel, human services staff, and personnel from other organizations.
  • Ability to work under supervision but ordinarily proceeds on own initiative and carries work out to completion independently; ability to also work as a team member.
  • Skills in interacting with people with diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds; people with mental and physical abilities; and people in stressful situations.
  • Ability to accept and adhere to our agency mission statement and the standards of excellence which includes integrity, diversity, accountability, respect, compassion and wellness.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a major in social work, psychology, sociology or closely related fields and two years of professional social work experience, OR a bachelor's degree and four years professional social work experience.

OR

A master’s degree from an accredited college/university in social work, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, human services administration or closely related field and six months of professional social work experience.

EXAMINATION PROCESS: The examination will consist of a rating of training and experience based on the information you provide in your application and your responses to the supplemental questions included in the application process. You must read the questions carefully, answer truthfully, and include any experience claimed in your answers to the supplemental questions in the Work Experience section of your application. Any experience claimed in your answers to the supplemental questions but not included in the Work Experience section of you application will not be credited.
