Hourly Range: $21.51 - $29.58 DOE
Bilingual Pay: $1.92/hr (REQUIRED)
Education Pay: $2.00 - $3.00/hr
Schedule: Full-Time  **May be required to work evenings and weekends depending on client needs**

Job Summary: 

Under the direct supervision of the assigned Supervisor, the Mental Health Specialist/TBS Coach has the responsibility for providing treatment support services, including In Home Behavioral Services (IHBS) and Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) to individuals and families as identified in the designated program for ages 0-21. Limited Part time positions available and Over-time an option based on client service needs.

Program: 

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS): TBS is designed to provide additional services to children and youth with serious emotional challenges. TBS helps children/youth as well as their parents/caregivers, foster parents, group home staff and school staff learn new ways of reducing and managing challenging/problematic behaviors (i.e., target behaviors) and increase positive behavior that will allow children/youth to be successful in their current environment and reduce and/or eliminate the need for placement into high levels of out-of-home care or psychiatric hospitalization.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Provides individual and family support services primarily in home and the community in accordance with individualized care plans. Services may include: providing referrals, advocacy and support to individuals and families (clients), including Intensive Care Coordination/Targeted Case Management services, In Home Behavioral Services, Therapeutic Behavioral Services, Social Rehabilitation, support groups, educational services and support, home management assistance, recreational activities, and behavioral interventions and management, etc.
  2. Able to effectively engage and develop relationships with appropriate boundaries with assigned clients.
  3. Effectively manages a flexible community based schedule.
  4. Completes all required documentation according to Agency and program standards within required time constraints. These may include: client contact forms, CANS, service activity summaries, data tracking, daily progress notes for all mental health services provided, mileage documentation, and other administrative duties, etc.
  5.  Is an active member of assigned treatment teams. Assumes assigned responsibility within the team in accordance to program needs which may include operating effectively within a Teaming Model and act as a liaison with other community agencies and resources.
  6. Meets Agency service percentage standard reflecting expected time spent with clients, if applicable.

Minimum Required Education and Experience: 

  1. Must possess a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science (i.e. psychology, sociology, social work etc).
  2. 1-2 years experience working with children/youth and/or families preferred.
  3. Must be bilingual in English/Spanish.
  4. Medi-Cal Documentation experience preferred.

Position/Program Requirements: 

  1. Must possess a reliable mode of transportation to travel to assigned client homes, schools, offices, etc.  If personal vehicle is the mode of transportation, must meet Agency’s driving requirements.

  2. Must be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the Agency's Personnel Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations. Must be willing to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) and drug screening test.
  3. Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
  4. Must be flexible to work a varying schedule according to operational needs.
