About Job

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) is recruiting a Peer Support Specialist to join our staff in the Addiction Recovery Program at Butterfield Park Medical Center.

CMH Addiction Recovery Program in Bolivar helps with substance and alcohol abuse recovery. The highly specialized outpatient treatment program leads patients to physical and psychosocial wellness. Patients share in the decision-making process with setting goals and planning ways to change. The first clinical assessment entails a detailed bio-psycho-social history conducted by a qualified substance abuse counselor. During the one-on-one interview, the counselor helps identify how drug and alcohol use harms the person’s major life areas. The counselor works with the program physician to develop a case-specific treatment plan based on the individual's needs and strengths. A board-certified physician orders and evaluates a medical assessment, including labs and drug screens. A customized medical treatment plan directs treatment over the next 12 months. All aspects of the treatment are completely confidential. The Addiction Recovery Program welcomes family or friends to attend appointments. They are a great support for a loved one's new life free from addiction.

A typical day will include: The purpose of peer support services is to assist individuals served in their recovery from behavioral health disorders. The individualized treatment plan of the person served should determine the focus of this service. Services allow individuals the opportunity to direct their own recovery and advocacy processes. Peer support promotes skills for coping with and managing symptoms while facilitating the utilization of natural supports and the preservation and enhancement of community living skills.

The position is: Full-Time days Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Job Requirements:

    • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Experience:Addiction and Behavioral Health experience preferred.
    • Skills: N/A
    • Licensure/Certification: CPS training/Certification through Missouri Dept of Mental Health within 6 months of hire.
