Position Summary: Residential Counselor works as part of a multi-disciplinary team in providing supervision to adult residents with severe and persistent mental illness. The Residential Counselor also provides services including but not limited to client supervision, transporting residents on outings, cleaning, cooking, crisis intervention, and medication management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Client supervision at assigned facility.
• Supports and assist individuals in developing independent living skills and meeting rehabilitation goals.
• Must demonstrate good judgment and emotional stability.
• Transporting residents on outings.
• Cleaning and cooking at assigned facility.
• Demonstrates knowledge of crisis management and intervention
• Assist/Perform all areas of bed side care and first aid as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• ·High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one (1) year of caregiving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of psychiatric illness and treatment.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with individuals and groups.
• Ability to flex work hours as needed.
• Willing to work some weekends and overnight shift.
• Possess strong interpersonal leadership, analytic, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Act as a team member providing input and reporting observations and concerns in regard to client symptoms and symptom management
• Demonstrate the ability to act a part of a team and in an appropriate manner in a crisis situation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to climb stairs multiple times a day and be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

· Ability to sit, rise, kneel, squat, twist, pull bend multiple times a day.

· Ability to walk with items in hand, grasp and reach as needed.

· Ability to perform with repetitive maneuvers and manual dexterity.

· Ability to work in an office environment.
