West Bergen Mental Healthcare is currently seeking School Based Clinicians for various local school districts. Positions are for full and part time, spanning elementary through high school.

These positions are inclusive of direct time with students and or their parents/families, home visits when needed, consultations, observations, paperwork and supervision. Hours will be established mutually with the school, West Bergen Mental Healthcare and the clinician, so that there are before/after school and evening hours of clinician’s availability on different days. Frequency of individual student contacts will be determined by each student’s individual needs, clinical assessment and IEP, (if applicable.)

The clinician will comply with school district administrative procedures as directed by the school district liaison. The clinician will be responsible for individual, parent/student, family and group services. Students will be selected by the Director of Special Program and Student Services or another School-appointed designee. In addition, school based therapists will provide outreach, educational and consultative services to the community, as well as marketing when requested by the supervisor. The School Based Clinician will also conduct risk assessments including school clearances on an as needed basis.

The position requires the School Based Clinician to meet the Productivity and Documentation standards and required clinical competencies as identified. Basic computer/keyboarding skills, including familiarity with word processing programs, (MS Word preferred) for report writing, forms, records, letters, etc., ability to learn and use the electronic client record keeping system, additional requirements may occur as specific job needs evolve.

Minimum Qualifications: M.A. in psychology from an accredited college and required licensure from the state of New Jersey as a Licensed Associate Counselor; M.S.W. from an accredited school of Social Work and required licensure from the state of New Jersey as a Licensed Social Worker, or other related masters degree and N.J. license/certification if required. Internship or other volunteer experience working with children, adolescents, adults or families in a therapeutic setting. Basic computer skills. Three positive professional or personal references. Ability to work as part of a school multidisciplinary treatment team.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in psychology or Social Work from an accredited college and licensed in N.J. as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Professional Counselor, or other related masters or doctoral degree with required full clinical licensure by the state of N.J. for independent practice. Supervision Certification if applicable. Extensive experience, 3 or more years, in a specialty area of practice dealing with children, adolescents, adults and families. Examples of such specialty areas are: depression, anxiety, developmental delays (e.g. Autism level 1), eating disorders, ADHD, divorce, family violence, difficult adolescents, etc.; Experience in a school setting very helpful. Valid driver’s license. Good driving record, meets recommendations of Agency Automotive Insurer.
