Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, ongoing evaluation, motivate workplace skills staff on a daily basis which include initial orientation and ongoing coaching; oversee and follow-up on member appeals, and create and execute weekly staffing schedule
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Directors of Admissions and Counseling/Tuition Assistance to create and administer new systems for career and education counseling, and case management services to ensure quality services for members
  • Regularly report on program utilization including using our database and surveys to pick out information about trends in usage; identify common challenges that arise, as well as member’s best practices for success
  • Collaborate with Assistant Director/Director and team to develop and manage delivery of high quality informative workshops for members
  • Create case management infrastructure developed to meet needs of general member population as well as specific groups as needed
  • Advise and counsel members in regards to academic and employment options and specific fund benefits and programs; analyze and interpret student transcripts and records to provide assistance
  • Collaborate with other departments of the Training and Employment Funds to ensure a continuity of services
  • Establish relationships, coordinate services and serve as a primary liaison with contracted counselors, external workshop facilitiators, and other stakeholders at educational institutions
  • Monitor spending and budgets-both grant funded (NYC, State, Federal) and collective bargaining; oversee timely processing of vendor payment
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Adult Education, Counseling or Human/Social Service required
  • Minimum five (5) years direct counseling experience in adult education, vocational or college programs; to include two (2) years supervisory experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of health care education programs, adult education, workforce development and/or labor management training funds’ operations
  • Bilingual in Spanish and training experience preferred
  • Project management skills preferred
  • Ability to research trends in employment within Health Care, and related industries as it concerns education and career advisement
  • Detail oriented and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Excellent presentation/facilitation skills with the ability to work independently and multitask under deadline pressure
  • Excellent reading, writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
