The Opportunity:
UCF’s Student Success and Well-Being Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) department is hiring an Assistant Director of Clinical Services. UCF CAPS is a large dynamic multi-disciplinary counseling center serving the UCF students campus both individually and through telehealth services. This position is responsible to the Director, University Counseling Center, or appropriate administrators. Will function for Director in their absence, as required or needed. May be delegated responsibility for the overall direction and management of a specific functional area. Responsible for assisting in the visioning, development and implementation of university mental health system for university students.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordinating and administering the vision and oversight of the CAPS mental health system and implementation of confidentiality and safety laws and regulations, university risk management policies, and professional codes of ethics.
- Serves as the point person for all incoming clinical concerns, requests for records, and consultation with Student Health Services psychiatric staff as needed for coordination of care.
- Responsible for coordination of multidisciplinary clinical/administrative teams and maintains liaison relationships with university organizations and local mental health care resources.
- Supervises all coordinators of clinical service components including therapy groups, case management, psychological testing, and specialty services.
- Co-chairs the clinical services committee, provides leadership in the Center’s outcome assessment efforts and quality assurance, and is responsive to clinical services issues as they arise.
- This position may carry some clinical oversight of the following: crisis assessment and response, End of Day same-day counseling duties, individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, clinical consultation, outreach programming, and clinical supervision.
- Serves on the administrative team along with the Director, Associate Director(s), Assistant Director(s). In absence of the Director, and Associate Director for clinical services the Assistant Director will supervise all operations in accordance with CAPS policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA (American Psychological Association) accredited college or university, completion of an APA-accredited internship or closely related field and have equivalent internship, and have a minimum of 2 years of counseling center or related experience; or a master’s degree in clinical psychology, mental health counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy at an accredited college or university with a supervised internship experience; and have a minimum of 4 years of counseling center or related experience. Must possess a current clinical license in their current state jurisdiction of practice. Must be license eligible in Florida at time of hire, licensed by the State of Florida within 6 months of hire date, and must maintain license; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous administrative experience; ideally in a Counseling Center setting.
- Ability to handle complex crises and/or clinical situations and to provide related supervision, training, and consultation to a large multidisciplinary staff on an as needed basis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, critical thinking and organizational skills required to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and clinical delivery systems for the agency.
- Ability to work collaboratively, respectfully, and in a timely manner as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong program development and evaluation skills required for clinical utilization tracking, clinical services training, outcome assessment, quality assurance and utilization review; and report data out when needed.
- Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as an understanding of and commitment to diversity issues in the delivery and management of clinical services.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The selected candidate must be licensed as a mental health counselor or psychologist in Florida or license eligible with a current license in another state.
