Position Summary
Promotes student success by facilitating communication among the home, the school, and the community and by providing supportive services to regular and special education students and their families in order to optimize the student’s ability to learn and adjust in the school environment.
Certificate/License Requirements, Qualifications, Education, And Work Experience
Master’s degree in Social Work; Valid Georgia professional service certificate in Social Work required; 3-5 years related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Board of Education.
Duties/Responsibilities
Respond to incident referrals (e.g., abuse or neglect issues); make necessary outside referrals (e.g., to DFCS). Develop and implement intervention strategies to address the identified needs of students. Connect families with outside resources (e.g., therapeutic organizations, food banks, medical agencies, such as dentists, etc.). Act as liaison between school and homes; make home visits to address issues (e.g., behavioral, academic, hygiene, etc.).
Consult/Collaborate with DFCS and medical/mental health staff to best meet needs of student. Compile data; maintain documentation, data bases, and complete end of year individual report for state. Maintain appropriate case records on referred students. Consult with schools regarding ways to improve student success and remove barriers. Attend meetings, establish phone contact, and attend parent teacher conferences when necessary. Provide minimal therapeutic services when needed (e.g., student in crisis, suicide threat, death in family, behavior issues, etc.). Serve on school and community committees to address the needs of students with disabilities. Develop and/or assist in development of programs to meet identified needs. Evaluate and/or assist in the evaluation of programs and services. Participate in continuing education/professional growth activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
SALARY: TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Commensurate with education and experience. 10 Months
