Role Summary
Under the supervision of the hospital’s Forensic Director, the Forensic Psychologist will complete court-ordered criminal forensic evaluations and provide evidence-based treatment for individuals admitted to an inpatient forensic unit.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct face-to-face evaluations for competency to stand trial and/or criminal responsibility
• Administer forensic risk assessments and psychological testing
• Complete comprehensive annual reviews and provide opinions on civil commitment needs
• Deliver expert witness testimony as a neutral evaluator to the court
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and development of individualized recovery plans
• Facilitate group therapy, psychoeducational sessions, and individualized interventions
• Develop and implement behavioral plans
• Maintain documentation of treatment progress
Required Qualifications
• Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program
• Active Georgia license to practice psychology
• Strong foundation in abnormal psychology, malingering assessments, risk assessment, and personality/intellectual testing
• Familiarity with relevant legal statutes and case law
• Experience working on interdisciplinary teams and delivering group therapy
• Understanding of best practices in forensic mental health and ethical/legal standards of forensic psychology
