Position Title: NYSID Janitor Custodian Porter
The Awesome Things You’ll Do
- Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Clean, Dust, and wipe furniture: Sweep, Mop or vacuum floors: empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers: empty and clean all ash trays and refill restroom dispensers.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, vacuums, brooms mops and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. USE AS DIRECTED.
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
Activities are subject to change / be added to meet business needs with management approval.
Our Must Haves
- Two to three years of Janitorial experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex janitorial instructions.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and carry out detailed & involved written or oral instructions. Ability to distinguish cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
- Complete Knowledge of all floor machines. (Buffer, Burnisher, Side by Side machine)
- Ability to work night shifts.
- Ability to complete additional duties as assigned.
- Works with Minimal Supervision.
Special Working Conditions
Electrical Equipment; Dirt & Dust ; Bending/ Squatting is required throughout the day while mopping, dusting sweeping, vacuuming, etc.
This role is governed by Goodwill NYNJ's NYSID Janitorial Transitional Work Policy. Under the terms of Goodwill NYNJ’s NYSID Janitorial Transitional Work Policy, employment in this role may not be any longer than twenty-one (21) months.
In no event will an individual hired into this role continue to be employed in this role after the last day of the 21st month following their original hire date. However, Goodwill NYNJ’s NYSID Janitorial Transitional Work Policy is not intended to and does not create a contract of continued employment between Goodwill NYNJ and any individual hired into this role for a specific duration. Employment is at-will.
