Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to seniors in an assisted living community. Your expertise will help individuals navigate mental health challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve personal growth. You will utilize evidence-based therapies and innovative approaches to deliver exceptional patient care in outpatient settings. ***IMPORTANT - candidate must be enrolled with Medicare, credentialed with Medicare advantage plans; and medicaid (optional). Pay may increase if fully set up to bill most.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions utilizing modalities such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure patient safety during acute episodes.
  • Engage in case management activities including patient care coordination, medical documentation, HIPAA compliance, and medical records management.
  • Facilitate specialized counseling for populations with PTSD, addiction issues, grief, chronic pain and geriatrics.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers and medical professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of medical terminology and CPT coding for billing purposes; collect data for clinical research initiatives.

Experience

  • Proven experience providing mental health counseling in outpatient or inpatient settings with a focus on behavioral health or clinical research.
  • Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy techniques such as psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care (including PTSD), and addiction counseling.
  • Strong background working with a diverse populations across age groups including geriatrics.
  • Experience conducting intake assessments using ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) and managing electronic medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health conditions; ability to perform diagnostic evaluations accurately.
  • Additional skills in social work practices, special education collaboration, psychopharmacology considerations, grief counseling techniques, and gender issues counseling are advantageous for success in this role.
