Schedule:

  • Work Hours: Monday–Friday, aligned with school hours. This position follows the school district calendar and observes scheduled school breaks.

  • Location: On-campus at assigned school site(s). This role supports multiple schools within the district.

About the Role:

We’re seeking a Student Support Counselor to provide crisis-focused mental health services primarily to foster youth, system-involved youth, and students with complex trauma histories in school settings. You'll respond to acute mental health crises, conduct risk assessments, and develop safety plans for our most vulnerable student populations. This role is ideal for a compassionate mental health professional dedicated to supporting youth who have experienced significant life challenges and systemic involvement.

What You'll Do:
✔ Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and case management
✔ Deliver individual and group counseling to students
✔ Develop and implement short-term intervention plans
✔ Work closely with school staff and external mental health agencies
✔ Offer training for students, parents, and educators
✔ Maintain thorough documentation of services provided
✔ Ensure ethical, evidence-based mental health practices

What We’re Looking For:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field
    Registration in good standing with the California BBS (AMFT, ACSW, APCC, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC)

  • Required: Experience supporting foster youth, gang-impacted youth, system-involved youth, or students impacted by complex trauma

  • Demonstrated experience working within child welfare, juvenile justice, or residential treatment systems

  • 2+ years of crisis intervention experience with youth (required)

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, probation officers, and legal advocates

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and evidence-based crisis interventions

  • Strong interest in serving vulnerable youth populations

  • Experience supporting foster youth, system-involved youth, gang-impacted youth, or students impacted by complex trauma (preferred)

  • Fluency in a second language (preferred)

    • Spanish
