Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Adult Population-Optum Credentialed to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Your expertise will help individuals navigate emotional challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve their personal goals. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Deliver individual, group, and family therapy sessions using modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to support clients experiencing acute emotional distress or safety concerns.
  • Facilitate intake assessments for new clients, ensuring comprehensive understanding of their mental health history and current needs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, documenting patient care, progress notes, treatment plans, and medical terminology clearly.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate care effectively.
  • Engage in clinical research activities when applicable to stay current with emerging best practices in mental health counseling.

Requirements

  • Valid licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LPC or equivalent) with state-specific certification.
  • Proven experience in psychotherapy techniques such as motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, psychopharmacology support, grief counseling, PTSD care, addiction counseling, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation.
  • Experience providing telehealth services using secure platforms to reach clients remotely.
  • Familiarity with hospital or outpatient clinic environments is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or chronic pain conditions.
  • Excellent skills in crisis management, behavior management, patient assessment, and patient care coordination.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health and experience managing medical records within HIPAA guidelines.
  • Strong research skills and ability to collect data for clinical evaluation or program development are a plus.
