Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Adult Population-Optum Credentialed to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Deliver individual, group, and family therapy sessions using modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to support clients experiencing acute emotional distress or safety concerns.
- Facilitate intake assessments for new clients, ensuring comprehensive understanding of their mental health history and current needs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, documenting patient care, progress notes, treatment plans, and medical terminology clearly.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate care effectively.
- Engage in clinical research activities when applicable to stay current with emerging best practices in mental health counseling.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LPC or equivalent) with state-specific certification.
- Proven experience in psychotherapy techniques such as motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, psychopharmacology support, grief counseling, PTSD care, addiction counseling, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
- Strong knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation.
- Experience providing telehealth services using secure platforms to reach clients remotely.
- Familiarity with hospital or outpatient clinic environments is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or chronic pain conditions.
- Excellent skills in crisis management, behavior management, patient assessment, and patient care coordination.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health and experience managing medical records within HIPAA guidelines.
- Strong research skills and ability to collect data for clinical evaluation or program development are a plus.
