Job Title: High School CounselorReports to: Campus PrincipalLocation: In-Person, CASLV Sandy Ridge Campus – Henderson, NVPosition Type: Full-Time, 10-Month (School Year)Position SummaryThe High School Counselor at Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas provides comprehensivecounseling services to students in grades 9–12. This position supports students’ academicachievement, post-secondary planning, and social-emotional development throughindividual counseling, group guidance, and collaboration with teachers, families, andoutside resources. The High School Counselor ensures students are on track for graduationand prepared for college, career, and life success.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide academic counseling and guidance to ensure students meet graduation requirements.Assist students with course selection, scheduling, and development of four-year academic plans.Coordinate and support college and career readiness activities, including college fairs, FAFSA workshops, and scholarship information.Deliver social-emotional learning and mental health support through individual and group counseling.Work with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success and implement intervention strategies.Identify students in crisis and connect them to appropriate resources and support services.Maintain accurate student records, transcripts, and documentation of counseling activities.Assist with state testing coordination, credit recovery, and academic interventions.Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment that promotes student well-being.QualificationsRequired:Bachelor or Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field.Valid Nevada School Counseling license or eligibility for licensure.Strong understanding of adolescent development and counseling practices.Preferred:Two or more years of experience as a high school counselor.Knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities.Experience in a charter or college-prep school environment.Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.Key CompetenciesCommitment to student success and equity.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information responsibly.Collaborative approach to working with staff, students, and families.Problem-solving and crisis intervention skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Work EnvironmentThe High School Counselor works in an office and school environment with frequentinteraction with students, staff, and families.
