The Intensive Outpatient Drug & Alcohol Counselor will assess client needs for outpatient drug and alcohol treatment services by asking a series of questions for the purpose of compiling data. The Outpatient Drug & Alcohol Counselor will then use the data to determine the best course of treatment for the client. The Outpatient Drug & Alcohol Counselor will determine the agency’s ability to meet the client’s needs or subsequently refer the client accordingly. The counselor will conduct IOP group Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-12pm.
Responsibilities
· Provide direct counseling to clients including individual and group sessions
· Demonstrate strong understanding of trauma and impact on client well being
· Build rapport and therapeutic relationship with clients
· Demonstrate multicultural awareness and experience working with diverse populations
· Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and benefits that impact and/or benefit the targeted client needs. Build partnerships and relationships with service providers in the communities we serve that can benefit our clients
· Communicate efficiently and professionally in written and oral formats
· Identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
· Guide the implementation of program goals and objectives
· Actively participate in scheduled case meetings and other department, agency, community, and provider meetings, as needed
· Maintain all necessary records, reports, progress notes, assessment summaries and outcome measurement surveys. Maintain all client records in a locked confidential file to include intake forms, assessments, progress notes, and signed releases of information
· Effectively communicate progress and any significant issues to appropriate staff
· Possess strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, external business partners, and the community
· Possess excellent organizational skills
· Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
· Strong computer skills. Familiar with the usage of Microsoft Office
· Work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
· Demonstrate strong understanding of Peace and Harmony House’s mission, vision, values, and programs
· Advocate on behalf of the clients of Peace and Harmony House and throughout the broader
Schedule
Part Time:
Monday 2pm-8pm
Tuesday & Wednesday: 8a-1pm
Thursday 11:30a-8p
Friday 8a-1pm
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in a Human Service field required
- Should have at least one-year related work experience in an outpatient treatment setting
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must have excellent documentation skills.
- Must have a professional demeanor
- Demonstrate the ability to deescalate frustrated clients and make decisions based upon anticipated outcomes.
- Show proficiency with computer programs which may include Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and others.
- Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
- Possess the ability to adjust to constantly changing workload
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
