Summary
Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Director, the Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric services to program participants, family members, and work with different treatment team members to ensure effective delivery and quality of services. The OCAPICA behavioral health services – Full Service Partnership programs are dedicated to providing culturally and linguistically competent, clinical, case management, peer support, psychiatry, community-based, whole-person integrated care model, and services that are inclusive/innovative that best serve the unique needs of diverse communities.
Essential Functions
- Assess and screen patients by conducting psychiatric evaluations including interviews, medical histories, physical exams, observations, and psychological testing.
- Analyze data and results of assessments to diagnose patients.
- Prescribe and administer medications according to diagnosis.
- Monitor patients to determine efficacy and potential side effects of medications.
- Develop a treatment plan, measure progress against the plan, and make goal adjustments when needed.
- Provide necessary services and crisis intervention to participants/staff members.
- Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
- Collaborate with a broader team of physicians, psychotherapists, case managers and nurses to assess and adjust treatment plans.
- Assess for clinical conditions and refer out for medical conditions.
- Coordinate and communicate with team members/participants about treatment and care.
- Meets monthly minimum billing requirement.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of service contacts (both direct and indirect) on our Electronic Health Record in accordance with agency, county and state guidelines and standards.
- Provide trainings, participate in case conferences, quality/peer review meetings and may work on special projects as directed by the Behavioral Health Director.
- May coordinate development of mental health services data and information.
- Perform any other functions as needed by management.
Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Current and valid board certification in psychiatry.
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency.
- Licensed to practice medicine in state of practice.
- Bicultural and bilingual is required
- Excellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM-5/ICD-10 criteria.
- Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques.
- Strong working knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team inclusive of other staff, other community agencies, participants, family members, and etc.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong computer skills.
- Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports.
- Ability to be proficient and timely with required paperwork.
- Must possess interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team inclusive of internal/external staff, community agencies, participants, family members, and etc.
- California Driver’s License, car insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to do some travel for conferences, meetings, trainings, and data collections locations as needed.
- Verification of employment eligibility and background check required.
- Regular attendance required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No supervision of employees will be required at this time.
Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)
- Duties to be performed in an office environment which may include shared space, exposed to weather conditions and noise level prevalent at the times when performing community-based duties.

- In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, standing, walking, typing, filing, listening and speaking.
