The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Supervisory Social Worker (GS-0185-12) to work at the 27th Special Operations Wing on Cannon AFB in Clovis, New Mexico.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the installation’s Family Advocacy Officer (FAO) directly supervising a staff consisting of social worker(s) and may also include a registered nurse and support personnel. Integrates and organizes the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). Exercises responsibility for program effectiveness and promotes acceptance of the social work function. Functions as a clinical social worker responding to complex and frequently shifting program priorities. Responsible for community development and programming on an independent basis and in coordination with other base and community agencies.

Salary Range is $89,508 - $116,362 based on experience.

Requirements For This Position

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
  • Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands
  • Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Must have practiced as an independent licensed clinical social worker within past two years
  • Two years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. Practice will require clinical privileges at the host MTF. Must maintain independent active clinical privileges for the duration of employment. Must sustain current competency to practice at the independent level.
  • Professional knowledge of social work practices, principles, theories, and administrative requirements to be able to apply them in a clinical or occupational setting.
  • Knowledge of the organization, management, and administration of child and family welfare services to perform program planning and develop and maintain public understanding and sound working relationships with local agencies and community agencies.
  • Knowledge of a wide array of problems and disorders of children and families and the varied resources needed to treat them.
  • Ability to evaluate and determine best application of multiple complex helping systems, various professions, and organizations; how they affect child and family welfare; and the multiple uses of such systems, professions, and organizations to deliver services.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise, plan, organize and direct the functions and staff of military and civilian personnel.
