  • Duty Location: Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL. No Telework allowed.
  • Duty Hours : Monday - Friday, 0730 - 1600, with 30-minute unpaid lunch. 40 hrs/wk.
  • Call-Back/On-Call Hours: None
  • Overage Hours: None

Essential Functions And Job Responsibilities

  • Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
  • Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
  • Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
  • Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
  • Participate in outreach and marketing of the Pre & Post Deployment Health Reassessment (PDHRA) program and services provided. As such, HCW shall liaison with the Line Commanders, screen patients, provide treatment when appropriate, educate returning units on the availability of the service and coordinate follow-on care.
  • Communicate with the Line Commanders to make them aware of the Deployment Health Clinic benefit, clarify who is eligible to receive services, and to initiate the screening process. Communications will take place at the clinic and “in the field”, with the Line units.
  • Provide deployment health screening services to all service members either individually or in groups, at the clinic or at the Line unit as determined necessary.
  • Become proficient with the use of the Navy Environmental Health Center (NEHC) electronic methods of completing the Department of Defense (DD) Forms. All Contractor health care workers shall use the Standard Form (SF) 600 which is the primary form of documentation for medical encounters, and the SF 513, which is the primary consultation form.
  • Provide care for eligible patients resulting from the DHCC screening in accordance with the Deployment Health Clinical Center (DHCC) guidelines located at pdhealth.mil. Emphasis will be on the treatment of mental health to include post-traumatic stress disorders and other combat related psychological symptoms. Family member care, related to deployment, may be included in the active-duty member’s scheduled sessions.
  • Participate in providing educational sessions/briefings for returning Units on deployment related illnesses/conditions and the realities of readjusting to life following deployment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree/Education: Have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited psychology program. Shall have completed an APA accredited internship/residency in professional psychology.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience within the last three (3) years working with a patient population with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
  • Licensure/Registration: Must maintain an active, valid, unrestricted current license to practice psychology in any one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or US Virgin Islands.
  • Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this program must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • References: Provide three (3) letters of recommendation from practicing physicians or peers attesting to his/her clinical skills. Reference letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of reference must have been written within the preceding two (2) years.
