Job Title: School Counselor (K–12)

Position Summary:
The School Counselor provides comprehensive academic, social-emotional, and college/career guidance to students in grades K–12. The counselor supports both general education and special education students, including active participation in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The counselor ensures students receive appropriate counseling services, academic planning, and post-secondary readiness support.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support & Counseling Services

• Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ social-emotional, behavioral, and academic needs per the students IEP.
• Develop and implement counseling goals and services for students with IEPs in collaboration with the IEP team.
• Monitor student progress and adjust counseling interventions as needed and document services in Welligent and or S
• Conduct regular check-ins and maintain documentation of services provided.

Special Education & IEP Responsibilities

• Actively participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of counseling goals and services.
• Ensure counseling services outlined in IEPs are implemented with fidelity.
• Collaborate with RSP teachers, service providers, and administrators to support students with disabilities.
• Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations.

Academic Guidance & A–G Requirements

• Provide guidance on A–G course requirements and monitor student progress toward graduation and college eligibility.
• Assist students in course selection, credit tracking, and academic planning.
• Support students with college and career readiness, including applications, financial aid, and post-secondary planning.

Family & Staff Collaboration

• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and support strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address student needs.
• Provide resources and referrals to families when additional support is needed.

School-Wide Support

• Promote a positive and safe school climate.
• Support crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives, MTSS processes, and student support teams.
• Assist with attendance monitoring and interventions.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in School Counseling or related field (required)
• Valid PPS (Pupil Personnel Services) Credential (required)
• 3–5 years of counseling experience preferred (K–12 setting preferred, but not required)
• Experience working with students with IEPs and knowledge of special education processes
• Strong understanding of A–G requirements and college readiness pathways

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $69,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
