Job Description

University of Indianapolis seeks a Tenure Track Assistant Professor to teach in the BSW program. This is a 9-month position. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student-centered pedagogy, and the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality

curricular content. Applicants should also show alignment with and commitment to the mission of the BSW Program and the broader goals of the University of Indianapolis.

Program Mission

The mission of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program at the University of Indianapolis is to prepare graduates with the knowledge, skills, values, and ethics of the social work profession. Graduates are prepared to be competent and ethical generalist practitioners who serve individuals, families, organizations, and communities.

BSW graduates work to enhance the quality of life and improve social functioning, with particular attention to oppressed and vulnerable populations. Through direct service, advocacy for social, economic, and environmental justice, and planned social change, graduates promote human rights and

social well-being. The program emphasizes a strong theoretical foundation for practice, grounded in ecological and strengths-based perspectives.

Experience

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of two years of post-MSW professional practice experience
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective post-secondary teaching and service

Education

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited institution. A Ph.D. or DSW degree is preferred and will consider ABD status.

Licenses/Certifications/Credentials

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (eligibility in IN is preferred)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate BSW courses
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment
  • Engage in scholarly activity consistent with tenure-track expectations
  • Participate in service to the department, school, university, and profession
  • Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, commencement ceremonies, and other required meetings and events
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and work within a team-based environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).
  • Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.
  • Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
  • Broad and diverse knowledge of the social work profession
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage and work effectively with diverse populations
  • Commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service
