Licensed Mental Health Consultant - LCSW or Psychologist

Urgently Hiring, $75–$115/hour, 34 hours/week

Monday - Friday, No nights or weekends

Heart-Centered Health is urgently seeking a licensed mental health professional to provide on-site mental health consultation services in a residential Vocational Training College serving young adults.

This is a meaningful opportunity for a clinician who enjoys working with youth and young adults, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and providing prevention-focused, short-term mental health support in an education and workforce development environment.

We are currently recruiting for two 34-hour-per-week positions.

Position Overview

The Licensed Mental Health Consultant provides mental health assessments, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, case consultation, psychoeducation, and wellness support for students in a structured residential program.

This role is not designed as long-term psychotherapy. The focus is on prevention, early identification, assessment, triage, short-term support, and helping students overcome mental health barriers that may interfere with education, training, employability, and daily functioning.

Schedule

34 hours per week

Standard service hours are generally scheduled between:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Final schedule will be coordinated with program leadership.

Compensation

$75–$115 per hour, depending on license, experience, and qualifications

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Consultant will:

  • Provide short-term counseling and mental health support to students
  • Complete mental health assessments and student check-ins
  • Provide crisis support and referrals when needed
  • Work closely with the Health & Wellness team, counseling staff, and other student support staff
  • Support students with coping skills, emotional regulation, stress management, healthy relationships, and employability barriers
  • Participate in student support meetings and case consultations
  • Provide mental health education and prevention-focused support
  • Maintain timely and professional documentation

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a current, active, unrestricted independent license in California as one of the following:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Licensed Counseling Psychologist

Additional requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of licensed independent clinical experience providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents and/or young adults
  • Ability to work on-site in the San Bernardino, CA area
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, crisis response, and consultation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to pass background screening and credentialing requirements

Preferred Experience

Preferred experience includes work in one or more of the following settings:

  • Schools, colleges, or vocational training programs
  • Residential youth or young adult programs
  • Community mental health
  • Correctional, military, or structured institutional settings
  • Programs serving socially or economically disadvantaged populations
  • Trauma-informed care, crisis assessment, behavioral health triage, and short-term counseling
