We are looking for a Peer Support Specialist for their clients in Newark NJ. The Peer Support Specialist fosters a recovery-oriented environment for adults (18+), offering peer support services that empower individuals to regain control over their lives and recovery journey. They engage therapeutically with consumers, using personal recovery experiences to build rapport and model effective communication, coping, and self-help strategies. The specialist helps consumers identify personal recovery goals, set objectives, and select appropriate interventions, contributing actively to treatment planning. They educate on self-care, maintain therapeutic relationships to monitor emotional or behavioral changes, and refer to clinical staff when needed. Additionally, they advocate for resources based on assessed needs, ensuring services align with UBHC and unit policies.
Shift: M-F with Rotating weekends
1: 8am-4pm
2: 10am-6pm
1: 12am-8am
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
