Summer Program Counselor

A Program Counselor will be responsible for supporting teachers during instruction, ensuring that students have an understanding of curriculum, building relationships with students and teachers, supervising meals and transitions, and more. We are seeking someone who is energetic, reliable, and enthusiastic about fostering a positive, engaging, and supported learning environment for youth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support teachers during instruction and assist students who need additional support
• Provide classroom support and assist with classroom management when the lead teacher is unavailable or needs additional assistance
• Supervise students during lunch, transitions, and free time, and interact with students to build meaningful relationships
• Assist with field trips, guest speaker sessions, and the end-of-program Demo Day
• Communicate daily observations to the lead teacher and Program Manager

What We’re Looking For:

The ideal applicant:

• Is ideally familiar with or has a background in engineering or STEM, but this is not required — enthusiasm for the subject and comfort in a hands-on technical environment matters most
• Has experience with youth in any setting (camp, tutoring, afterschool, coaching)
• Is energetic, patient, and able to engage and connect effectively with Bay Area youth across various backgrounds
• Will be required to successfully complete a background check prior to employment

About Kits Cubed

Kits Cubed is a youth-led, STEM non-profit organization backed by the Golden State Warriors and National Geographic, dedicated to introducing youth to the wonders of science through fun, affordable, and accessible means. We do this by creating science kits, hosting summer camps, after-school programs, and field trips, and this summer, Kits Cubed will launch a 6-week engineering program at Oakland Technical High School for incoming 7th and 8th graders to gain hands-on training in the fundamentals of technical and applied science.
