Our department leads psychiatry education for the Dell Medical School and its post-graduate programs train mental health professionals to become 21st-century leaders in the fields of psychiatry and psychology. Our department's clinical services provide culturally informed, evidence-based care for individuals and families in multiple general medical and specialty behavioral health settings with an active and strong presence in community settings. Importantly, the Department is leading efforts at the University of Texas at Austin to execute cutting-edge basic and clinical research that illuminates the underlying neurobiological causes of psychiatric disorders and identifies novel treatments for psychiatric disorders.
About The Position
The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in collaboration with Integral Care, seeks a board certified or eligible psychiatrist to join its community-focused clinical faculty. This role offers the opportunity to transform mental health care delivery through innovative clinical, educational, and research initiatives in partnership with a nationally recognized Local Mental Health Authority. The ideal candidate will be committed to exemplary, patient-centered care and bring strong collaborative skills to work across multidisciplinary teams. Clinical responsibilities will be based in Integral Care settings and tailored to the candidate's interests, which may include outpatient care, crisis services, residential treatment, or jail psychiatry. The position includes opportunities for teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, contributing to new models of integrated care, and engaging in scholarly activities. The psychiatrist will play an essential role in advancing high-quality, evidence-based care for individuals with serious mental illness while helping shape the next generation of psychiatric professionals.

Qualifications
Required:
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to appointment.
- Board certification in psychiatry or board eligibility with a commitment to obtaining certification within two years.
- Completion of a four-year psychiatry residency program.
- Eligible for credentialing and privileging at UT Health Austin.
- Eligible for a faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Preferred:
- Experience working in an academic medical center or university-affiliated health system.
- Prior involvement in teaching medical students, residents, or fellows.
- Demonstrated interest in or experience with community psychiatry or public mental health systems.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams or integrated behavioral health settings.
- Interest or experience in program development, quality improvement, or research initiatives.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, or experience working with different, underserved populations. #healthstartshere2
