Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is recruiting a highly motivated and licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Texas. The faculty position is 100% outpatient, Monday through Friday with no afterhours call. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping patients achieve better mental health and possess the necessary skills and qualifications to provide effective psychiatric care.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses of patients in collaboration with a supervising physician
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, utilizing evidence-based interventions
• Prescribe and monitor medications and treatments, adjusting as necessary to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for self-care and coping
• Coordinate care with other healthcare providers as necessary to ensure continuity of care and holistic treatment
• Document all patient encounters and maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in the EPIC electronic medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with new developments and trends in psychiatric care
• Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice, including maintaining patient confidentiality and providing culturally sensitive care
Qualifications:
• Current and valid license as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas
• Master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• Experience working in a psychiatric setting providing direct patient care preferred but will interview persons recently graduated
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications, treatment modalities, and evidence-based practices
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and clinical skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other healthcare providers
• Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
